R/C Fliers of Venice
General Meeting April 11, 2001

President Allen Wilder called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM
Officers and directors present were Allen Wilder, Bob Shapiro, Ken Obeshaw, Bob Ring , Ed Gandorf, Ernie Schrimpe, and El Paufve
No visitors of new members were present
Treasurer's report by Ernie Schrimpe was read and accepted.

Director's Reports:
Ken Obeshaw: The shed at the old field must be torn down and the old float destroyed. Volunteers were requested to help tomorrow (Thursday), Friday to tear down, and Saturday to help cart away. Several volunteered.
Ed Gandorf: Don't forget, SAM fliers next Tuesday.
Next year in April we'll have a grand SAM event, and also a novice Pattern fun fly. I'll make a roster of events for the next year to be sent out in June and again in September.
This Saturday is the Goodbye Fun-Fly with $100 of odds and ends of gifts as prizes for those who fly. Prizes include 4 gallons of fuel gifted from the Sarasota Hobby Store. There will also be a raffle with a prize of a Long John model from Bob Shapiro.
Allen Wilder requested volunters to assist in maintaining the equipment at the field - to keep the gas supply and check oil etc. Bob Ring will make a log book to keep the records. Russ McManamy was the first volunteer.
Ed Gandorf displayed one of the three plaques to be given away at the next meeting.
Bob Shapiro: Thanked the Club for their assistance with the IMAC show and handed out gift certificates of $30, 20 and 10 by lot to club members who helped. He acknowledged that the results were not yet posted to IMAC. He also suggested for next year a one day event with a novice pattern class (average planes) and a simple sportsmans class.
Jack Garrot made a suggestion that next year we should have training for pattern flying - using buddy boxes to help against accidents - and possibly offering prizes for those taking training. He and Bob Shapiro offered their services for training.
Tony Martin, a member and sheriff, gave thorough instructions on the use of the 911 cell phone at the field, He also handed out information sheets on emergency first aid treatment for all kinds of traumatic situations, and offered to help get group training on CPR if there was enough interest.

Old Business: Thanks to Allen and Jane Wilder as well as to Bud and Peggy Christman for the banquet held at the Jacaranda Country Club.
Meeting was adjourned at 8 PM.
Respectfully submitted, El Paufve, sec'y.
