| R/C Fliers of Venice General Meeting March 14, 2001 President Allen Wilder called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM Officers and directors present were Allen Wilder, Bob Shapiro, Ken Obeshaw, Bob Ring , Ed Gandorf and Ernie Schrimpe Visitors and new members present were Bob Kirk, Woody Dismenita, Al Darling, Pat Griffin, Jim Behanna, Don Duncan and Les Graff Treasurer's report by Ernie Schrimpe was read and accepted. Director's Reports: Ken Obeshaw: One accident occured involving a runaway prop, and this time the injured passed out but was later revived. A 911 call was placed but we didn not know the address (thankfully help was not needed) The address is now printed on the cell phone box for future use if needed. Ed Gandorf: Only 50% of the Tuesday fun flies have been held because of rain or high winds. At events at other fields Venice has been well represented with 2nd and 3rd place finishes. Bob Ring: Offered a suggestion that we have an indicator to let pilots know which way they should land, since he fears head to head accidents might occur. A heated discussion ensued. Allen tabled the issue for later discussion. Bob Shapiro: IMAC is still on for 3/31 and 4/1, anyone wishing to volunteer is asked to contact Bob. He guarantees us a bang-up show. Bud Christman: The first Annual Banquet is scheduled for Thursday 3/29 at the Jacaranda Country Club. We will have one choice of beef, chicken or fish based on the most popular choice in each grouping. Contact Bud for reservations. Meeting was adjourned at 7:45. It was followed by an Ultracoat demonstration of covering a wing by Bob Shapiro. There was great interest, particularly in the tool Bob used for trimming. It was called "Jim's Eversharp Trimmer" Minutes taken by Ernie Schrimpe for El Paufve who was celebrating his birthday. |
